ARTICLE 1 : AIM OF THE COMPETITION
Gamay International Competition is organised by the Armonia company and InterBeaujolais. The competition is open to wines from all over the world (still red, rosé, white) with geographical specification and produced using the Gamay grape variety (85% minimum) each wine must conform to the norms prevalent in the country of production. The competition aims to highlight the quality of wines produced using the Gamay grape variety.
ARTICLE 2 : WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
The categories of professionals who are allowed to participate are: wine producers, winemakers, groups of co-operative wineries, wine brokers, importers.
ARTICLE 3 : ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR WINES
Each wine must be submitted as follows:
- The wine must come from an identical stock of wine. At the time of the contest the applicant must have in stock a minimum of 1000 litres for each wine that is to be presented. However when the production rate has been low, the stock can be inferior to 1000 litres, but must be superior to 100 litres.
- The samples must be supplied with their marketing label. These marketing labels must be conform both to EU rules for EU members and to the regulations in force in the country of production, as well as respecting importation regulations.
ARTICLE 4 : COMPETITION ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Registration by letter:
A registration from must be completed for each wine proposed. The form is available online on the competition website. Any information supplied on the form incurs the authors’ responsibility. The following are necessary for registration: the completed registration form and the analysis report per wine that is less than a year old.
Online registration:
a) Requires the creation of an account on the www.concoursgamay.com website. The creation of a personal account will allow registration of each wine. The account is free.
b) A registration form is to be completed for each wine. Registration forms are available via the personal account of the applicant.
c) Registration fees must be paid using the online www.concoursgamay.com payment system. The different payment systems are outlined in article 5. Information supplied on the form incurs the authors’ responsibility.
ANALYSIS REPORT :
The analysis report must include : level of alcohol, total and volatil acidity, total SO2. This form can be replaced by the original approval certificate for the wine if it is less than a year old.
ARTICLE 5 : REGISTRATION FEES
The registration fees are shown in Euros, inclusive of tax, on the registration form. These prices are the same for all countries.
- For applicants from France, payment can be done by cheque made payable to “Armonia – Concours International du Gamay”, by Bank transfer or by credit card. Only French cheques are accepted.
- For Europe and for the rest of the world payment can be made by credit card or Bank transfer. On the Internet the choice of payment of registration fees is done online in the professional access of the participant and after completing the registration of wine. Payment by credit card is made via the secure online payment (Visa, MasterCard). Payments are made payable to Armonia - International Competition Gamay.Any wines received which are unaccompanied by a registration payment will not be allowed to participate. According to European legislation, the organiser of an international event in France has to levy a 19.6% tax (French VAT) applicable to all participants, including EC members. Bank charges are not the responsibility of the competition organisers. Payment will be debited at the time of registration.
Under no circumstances can the registration fees be refunded, whatever the reason for the cancellation. An invoice will be sent to the participants by email. If the applicant has no email, it will be sent by fax or by post.
ARTICLE 6 : CONCERNING THE SAMPLES
For each wine registered, 3 samples of between 0.5l to 0.75l must be sent. The samples must be labelled according to European and international legislation, and display the same information as on the registration form. The samples must be sent to the Gamay International Competition address. (The shipping fees must be paid by the sender) Shipping insurance and risk is the responsibility of the sender.Any samples received postage due will not be accepted. Any samples received that do not correspond to the accompanying registration form will not be submitted to the jury and will remain the property of the competition organisers.
ARTICLE 7 : ORGANISATION OF THE COMPETITION
The samples are tasted anonymously and individually. Each wine is categorised according to its origin and type. If in a certain category the number of wines submitted is inferior to 3, the competition organisers reserve the right to cancel the category.
For each category of wine, the jury will be composed of at least 3 people, with a minimum of 2 wine professionals. A participant cannot judge his own wine.
The organisers of the Competition decide upon the composition of each jury, prepare the samples and organize the wine tasting to guarantee efficiency and impartiality. The contest guarantees the exploitation and publication of the results. If circumstances exterior to the competition prevent satisfactory jury work, the organisers cannot be held responsible.
ARTICLE 8 : AWARDS
Gamay International Competition awards the following prizes per category: - Grand Gold medal
- Gold medal
- Silver medal
The number of awards cannot represent more than a third of the totality of the proposed samples. If their wines have been selected the contestants will be notified by email, fax, or mail. The notification letter is the contestant’s official document: it will give precise information such as the type of award, wine data, the declared quantity, and also the name and address of the holder. The registration fees will not be refunded for wines that have not won an award. Medals that represent the awards can be affixed to bottles and are available from Gamay International Competition organisers. The medal logo is available to download on the competition website. It is forbidden to change this logo. It cannot be used in any other form other than digital and its sole use is the promotion of the selected winning wines.
ARTICLE 9 : CONTROLS
Gamay International Competition reserves the right to eliminate any incomplete or fake registration or any samples that do not correspond to the contest regulations.
The contest reserves the right to undertake an oenological laboratory analysis of the winning wine samples and to take any consequent action it may deem necessary. The competition reserves the right to take samples from retail outlets to verify that the samples tasted correspond to those being sold after the competition.
The contest will conserve a sample of each award winning wine with its analytical report. These samples are kept at the disposal of the inspection authorities for a year.
ARTICLE 10 : PARTICIPATION RULES
Participation in this competition implies acceptance of the regulations. Registration fees will not be refunded if the samples or inscription form arrive after the deadline, or if an inscription is cancelled.
ARTICLE 11 : LAW AND LAWSUITS
These regulations are subject to French law. The language used for the present regulation is English but in case of a lawsuit the language used will be French.
In case of dispute or litigation with Armonia and Inter Beaujolais, organisers of Gamay International Competition and whatever the nationality of the plaintiff, the case will be submitted the competent jurisdiction (the Lyon tribunal).
