Trophy for The World’s Best Gamay
Since 2015, at the end of a competition a ‘Grand Jury’ re-tastes the gold medal winners with the best scores to determine which is the World’s Best Gamay, and a trophy for this supreme award is given to the winner at the awards ceremony.

Winning the trophy was a wonderful surprise. Although we had already taken part in the competition in the past and won medals, the trophy was something we had only ever dreamed of. Winning it this year is a great reward and a source of motivation. It also shows the value of our work. Following the announcement, our customers reacted quickly, resulting in an influx of booking requests. Plus, we received numerous requests from the press over several weeks which we were not very used to. This title is important for us as it helps reassure our customers as to our ability to produce high-quality wines.

The reputation of winning this trophy was instantaneous and travelled across borders faster than our own communications! It was overwhelming!
Thanks to the trophy’s intense media coverage, we saw an immediate impact on our local customers, which was also very positive for publicising the succession of mother to son that took place in-house.
We used this award to raise the profile of our entire estate and all our cuvées. The light it has shed on us has really showcased our brand and helped us get new customers.

The trophy provides unprecedented media coverage and better ranking in search engines. So now customers come to visit our wine cellar every day, even at harvesttime!
The award has increased sales to both professionals and private individuals, and strengthened customer loyalty. This is clear to see in my order book--orders for primeur wines have come in quite quickly.
Highlighting the estate has made the awarded wine better known and increased its price, and the fame and added value have trickled down to other estate wines as well.
The Trophy has really put Brouilly wine, its terroir and the villages where it is grown in the limelight!

Winning the Trophy... is simply magical!
And the impact has been fabulous. I am astounded.
For example, there were so many people at our Open House! Visitors from Perpignan, the Savoie department and even Switzerland came here to discover our Beaujolais-Villages 2020, which was chosen as the World’s Best Gamay.
Thanks to the Trophy, I have expanded my client base and won new export contracts, in Switzerland and Sweden for example.
Great chefs have also contacted me and come to visit the Domain: people from the Georges Blanc company, Guy Lassausaie, and Cyril Lignac and his sommelier.
Sales have really increased, despite a higher price.
Writers for gourmet magazines continue to call me, and the Trophy has contributed to the renown of the Beaujolais-Villages designation in general!
I wish everyone could win the trophy... it is a magical, marvellous experience. Just thinking about it still gives me goosebumps.

"Press reviews have been quite positive, both for the Saint-Amour 2018 that took the trophy, and for Maison Mommessin!
The Trophy is an important communications tool, and can also be used for prospection. We have won many new clients in France, particularly via ‘traditional’ networks, in restaurants and through wine merchants. We have also managed to place the World’s Best Gamay with clients who usually prefer other references.
On the export market, the award has allowed us to set up operations to showcase Maison Mommessin and the World’s Best Gamay on several markets.
We are proud to have won the Trophy for the Concours International du Gamay, a competition of such seriousness and quality that it is considered one of the best in France!"

“The Concours International du Gamay medal is surely the most difficult to obtain. The wines presented are quite exceptional, so the level of the competition is very high. That’s what makes the Best of Gold medal and the World’s Best Gamay Trophy so valuable, and why amateur wine lovers, wine professionals and journalists anxiously await the results each year.
Winning the Trophy of course resulted in a very good sales year, but for us the best part of the wine business is people. Because we won the Trophy, many wine lovers came to taste the award-winning wine and meet the wine producer. This put us in contact with some truly great people to whom we were able to introduce the rest of the line and present the many nuances of Gamay.”

“As soon as we received the Trophy, we started getting many international phone calls. The trophy really is well-publicised abroad.
Both our professional and individual customers were happy for us, and proud that they had selected the wine even before it obtained the Trophy for the World’s Best Gamay.
This distinction has helped us to become better known, and to keep existing customers loyal. The news really spread around the region. We were also impressed on the local level, because throughout the year people talked about the trophy and congratulated us.”

“We sold our entire Canicule 2014 cuvée in just 6 months, three times as fast as usual. Many customers new to the domain came to visit, and we were able to introduce them to the rest of our production. Restaurants contacted us spontaneously to ask about our wines!
And the award also helped launch our export business: we made our first--and what is not likely to be our last--delivery abroad--to Asia.
Since winning this trophy we have received many positive messages from customers congratulating us on our success!”

“After my brother and I won the trophy last year, we were able to showcase all our cuvées, and sales doubled. Our entire Chiroubles production was sold almost at once! The wine profession talks about this competition a lot, so we were able to add numerous contacts to our network, in France and for the export market.”

“After winning the Trophy for the World’s Best Gamay, our turnover increased by 70% for a period of several months. Consumers were excited about our wine, of course, but we also felt real enthusiasm on the part of the wine merchants, restaurant owners and other professionals who contacted us. This Trophy benefitted the entire Coteaux du Lyonnais PDO, and also brought recognition to the organic farming (AB) label.”
Winning the 2025 World's Best Gamay Trophy was a wonderful way of acknowledging our work and terroir. This award sparked off a real frenzy of activity: press coverage, regional events, local honours, etc. all of which gave our domain unprecedented visibility. It has helped attract many visitors, showcase our entire range of wines and fill our guest rooms until 2026! Quite apart from the commercial impact, this trophy has put our village and our appellation in the spotlight, giving us new momentum, renewed pride and the desire to continue sharing our passion with enthusiasm.
