In 2022, Brouilly - Pierreux 2020 from the Domaine Nicolas Boudeau was the wine that won the Trophy. When asked to reflect back on his latest award, winning winemaker Nicolas Boudeau said: "The trophy has brought us unprecedented media attention and better online referencing. As a result, customers have been coming to tour our winery every day. The award led to a rise in demand by professionals and individuals, and renewed customer loyalty. The attention lavished on the estate has brought added-value to the award-winning wine and its selling price, and that renown has trickled down to the other product ranges, whose prices have been revised. Being showcased by the Trophy has put the Brouilly cru, its terroir and the villages in the spotlight!"
About the International Gamay Competition
Aware that one of the criteria for selecting a wine for the consumer is the grape variety, since 2010 Inter Beaujolais, the Beaujolais Wine Council, has been promoting Gamay - the region's emblematic grape variety – by organizing the Gamay International Competition with Armonia.
Approved by the DGCCRF (French Ministry of Economy and Finance) and ISO 9001 certified through Armonia since 2014, the Competition is open to producers worldwide whose wines are made from Gamay grapes. It is aimed at:
- strengthening the reputation of Gamay and the image of round, cheerful and fruity wines so popular with consumers
- introducing the wide range of Gamay to wine connoisseurs and influencers the world over. Based on tastings by a jury of wine experts and professionals, the International Gamay Competition rewards the wines that best express the qualities of the Gamay grape variety.
